For Teachers: These one-of-a-kind cards offer a creative a way for beginners to learn note values while having fun with math. Laminated Flash Cards, Writable and Erasable. Works for children of all ages as well as adults. Each of these cards is cut to size to represent the duration of the note it represents: a half-note card is half the size of a whole note, a quarter note card is one quarter the size of the whole note, and so on through a combination of various note values. Children understand through hands-on manipulation of the cards how rhythmic patterns work. Begin by selecting a basic whole note/half-note combination for children to clap. Add more complex rhythms as needed. Encourage children to create their own patterns using one of the four time signature cards (which offer a unique way for you to teach fractions). You can use these cards to make hundreds of rhythm patterns tailored to the skill level of each student. Make puzzles out of them - play games with two or more students. To strengthen eye-hand coordination, turn cards stems up to clap with the right hand, stems down for left hand.
